1.) What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
Being able to take care of the rest of my family. I had a hard childhood; I want to make sure my children have better.
2.) What do you value most in a relationship?
Candor and respect. I firmly believe if you’re afraid a hard conversation or a difference of opinion might harm your friendship, that’s a sign that something isn’t right. And if arguments devolve into mudslinging where you bring out the worst in each other - it may be time to call in quotes. Friendships are optional relationships - choices we make. So… why choose something that doesn’t make you feel good?
3.) What is your most treasured memory?
The day I found the courage to tell Addie the story of my life. It was something I’d dreaded doing. I held her at arm’s length to avoid it. But when I confronted with the choice of losing her or telling her the truth, I put my fear aside and chose love. She didn’t judge me or pity me. She just loved me. I’ll never get over it.
4.) What does friendship mean to you?
It means being there when the chips are down, clapping loud than anyone else for my friends successes, it means being honest, being vulnerable, and making an effort

Toni Morrison, Octavia Butler, NK Jemisin, and Yaa Gyesi, Steve Berry. Just to name a few.

Q&A
1.) What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Forgiveness. Some things are unforgivable, and some people don’t deserve it. I know everyone says forgiveness is more for the forgiver than the asshole who hurt you, but grudges are a reminder to keep my guard up. Once bitten twice shy.
2.) What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?
I’d wake up with my love next to me. We’d go on a long, hard run in 65 degree weather. Breakfast would be English sausages and American pancakes with lots of butter and maple syrup. Someone else would wash the dishes while we showered, had a quickie, and got dressed to spend the afternoon shopping in Mayfair. Lunch would be Samke Harra from my favorite Lebanese restaurant on Edgware Road, and a stroll through Regents park after. We’d have a couple’s massage at Lavender on the Hill in Primrose Hill before dinner and a pint at our local with friends. We’d go home, change into our pajamas and binge watch something until we gave into the sexual tension that’s been building all day. An hour later, we’d be boneless, sated, and wrapped in each other’s arms asleep.
3.)For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
I feel most grateful for the valleys and boulders I’ve had to navigate to get to where I wanted to go. As much as I wish my father hadn’t disappeared, I recognize that overcoming all of that devastation showed me I had the power to override my setbacks and turn them into stepping stones.
4,). If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?
I would have had more time with my father. My mother would have talked to me about what she was feeling and asked me to do the same. I would have spent my whole childhood in Rivers Wilde instead of having to uproot myself.
5.) Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?
No. If I dream it, I do it. Life is too short to put things off.
